Unsolicated Comments about the loss of John Chitwood
FROM A MANUFACTURER (July 2004)
It is another sad day in the industry when we have lost a very good contributor
of great product knowledge and professionalism. It appears that not much
thinking goes into why obviously good people (like John) are let go. Could it be
the ultimate "we are taking the organization to another level" theory,
an answer often reserved by those who feel threatened by good people? This
move weakens the industry and with John goes much knowledge that just won't be
there when needed. That is a shame.
What's in it for me today? Don't worry about tomorrow. We'll deal
with that mess later. That's corporate America for you these days.
Unsolicited Comments about the Kitchen and Bath Show
FROM A MANUFACTURER (March 2004)
I have determined the following. KBIS has become a show of egos and little
substance. It is an opportunity for medium
sized companies to show some new products that may or may not work, may or
may not ever get into production or in some
cases improve company profits. An opportunity for owners and executives to
mill around and tell people how great they are and for those listening to
nod mindlessly for fear of embarrassing those
with egos. A great place to find a free dinner or entertainment (sometimes
comedy in the booth). Much stress is put
on factory people so the inflated egos can roam freely while at the same
time folks try
to steal ideas from others with substance and
standards, (a quality harder and harder to find).
New and innovative products with style?
How about just a different twist on BTUs, sound
levels, and some truly biased results on the
performance of the products. Same old same old with a new version of bull
crap. If you touch the samples too hard at the show,
be careful, they may break!
