The Best Ideas are Borrowed
ASKO brings out a drying cabinet, with integrated washer and dryer, following a path paved before them by the 2004 Maytag Drying Center (click) and the 2001 Whirlpool Personal Valet (click)

The Swiss Army Knife of Swedish Dishwashers
ASKO's new Encore dishwasher comes with extra racks, adjustable racks, coarse and gentile wash programs for pots or crystal.  Targeted as your 2nd washer, but not your only washer.  ASKO claimed that the Encore is "The quietest dishwasher available.  Period", but we're not able to find the specific sound output listed.  This seems to be a product following path created by the GE Monogram pot washer in 2001 (click)

2004 Kitchen & Bath Show Introductions
New Large Capacity Eurotech Laundry Pair

The EWF272EL "extra-large" capacity front loading washer features electronic controls, cold water fill only and an internal water heater reaching a max water temp of 140F, and a chrome-pealing 1200 RPM spin cycle.  Eurotech claims the washer has a 16 bath towel capacity, but did you ever wonder if these are the crappy Holiday Inn towels or the  MGM Grand luxo-towel?  What kind of specification is the "bath towel" anyway.  Are they spending more money on the engineering or going from store to store looking for the tiniest towels.  How about we all use the "Jimmy Hoffa" unit of measure, for example: "This here washer is a 1.2 Jimmy Hoffa unit, or simply a Jimmy Hoffa and the legs of John Gotti."  Wow, gotta get that washer!  Energy Star certified.  Priced at $850.
The EDV278EL electric dryer has some sort of moisture sensor and a reversing drum spin.  Priced at $550
May be installed under counter or stacked.

American Style Hoods from ASKO/Eurotech
3 additional hoods were shown at this year's show, 1 lower end Eurotech unit, and 2 higher end ASKO units.
The Eurotech units were stainless steel and featured hidden knob controls, mesh filters, and a sleek style.
The ASKO units included a step up hood and a Pro-style hood with baffle filters and warming lamps.  No pricing and availability information was provided.

2003 Kitchen & Bath Show Introductions
5 New ASKO D3000 Series Dishwashers

The top line model D3530 Dishwasher includes lots of stuff.......the unit features, a hidden LCD controls panel with new programs which include top half wash only and bottom half wash only, a maximum water temperature of 170F, a silly feature called CoolTouch to cool the dishes for unloading (though if your dishes are 170F, perhaps it's not so silly),  a Turbo Fan Drying System which if I were to be a betting man is the same system as CoolTouch but 'on' for longer, and a drying sensor.  But wait...that's not all, also includes 2 special nozzles for cutlery,  pots and pans, an inline water heating system (strangely similar to the BSH inline system dissed by ASKO in the past as incapable of drying plastic ware!!!), a fangled utensil rail of some kind, interior light, 3 mesh filters, Energy Star rating with an annual power usage of 220 Kwatts/year and a 3.1 gallon minimum water usage (4 gal avg usage).  Includes other features that only the Yiddish-set could fully appreciate, 24 hour delayed start program.
"The D3530 from ASKO has a new auto wash program that uses sophisticated sensors to determine the right wash temperature, wash cycle, and drying time for each load."

2002 Kitchen & Bath Show Introductions

New Washer & Dryer Pair for ASKO
The W6441 Washer features 11 wash programs (including delayed start, extra rinse and anti-crease programs), wash temperatures range from 85 F to 205 F, and spin speeds from 400 rpm to 1400 rpm.   We believe that at 205 F, only 7 F cooler than boiling water, ASKO has pretty much cornered the "bubble-boy" market.  The LED display shows "time remaining".
The T731 Dryer uses a moisture sensor to allow the user to set drying results such as: extra dry, normal dry, timed dry, and air fluff.  Users can set temperature, cycle times, and delayed start.  The end of program buzzer can be disabled.
Both units are Energy Star qualified and may be installed stacked, side by side or under a countertop.

New ASKO Sister Division For Real
Eurotech didn't show any new product in 2002, but the division is no longer the vaperware it was in 2001, now with a full compliment of distributors, a new website, and a product line that seems to scratch an itch.

2001 Kitchen & Bath Show Introductions

New ASKO combo washers
ASKO launched 2 combo washer-dryers (all in ones). 1 is all electric and 1 has a gas powered drying cycle for faster drying. Available in the fall, and targeting $1000 retail. ASKO also showed a $600 15 lb. front loader prototype built by Merloni in Italy.

New ASKO Sister Division
Antonio Merloni Group has started to enact their strategy of leveraging this new ASKO asset with the launch of economic ASKO models under the ASKO brand and the new separately distributed Eurotech brand. Eurotech will specialize in washers, dryers and dishwashers. Eurotech displayed prototype combo washer/dryers, and several middle end models of washer/dryers and dishwashers. The most important product at the show was the division itself, as they began the process of building a distribution network. Eurotech should not be confused with Euro Tech Distributors (Pacific Northwest distributors of Thermador, Bosch, Gaggenau) or Euro Tech Imports (distributors of Berloni cabinets). The Advisor says: "Never skimp on a trademark search"
