New Touch Control Stainless Gas Cooktop
Caldera upgrades their 5 burner stainless knob unit with the addition of a
glass touch control module where the knobs used to be. A combination of
one of the most powerful cooktops in North America and the most exacting
repeatable controls, from the hinterlands of Vermont. How strange is that?

Hallelujah
After years of R&D, Caldera has perfected and is now marketing Electronic
(knobless) gas controls for cooking. After
countless failures by others, the little guys in deepest, darkest, crunchiest,
and barely electrified Vermont earned a Best of Show birth with this one.
We had been rooting for them.

New Electronically Controlled 5 Burner 36" Gas Cooktop
"The first in production all electronic touch controlled 60K BTU
Arrow Series Gas Cooktop. 21 completely repeatable settings for the control you
need. 8 quiet microcycling settings for perfect sauces and soups. Silent
ignition and constant flame monitoring for peace of mind." Simmer
burner cycles on and off similar to the Thermador technology but by using
glow-plugs, they have eliminated Thermador's annoying spark igniter "click,
click click". Though we were disappointed with the overpowering grate
design, it was not enough to keep this unit out of our Best of Show category. MSRP $2000

remotely using the Caldera cooktop controls. The product line includes chimney hoods and power packs as well as a never very

a 99 minute set and forget timer, and 11 different fan settings.
Rome was not built in a day

The "Afternoon Delight"
Cooktop
The New Dial 2000 cooktops with
electronic touch controls introduced at the 2000 KBIS is now in production. They
feature 44 heat settings per burner plus:
-single button cooktop shutdown (when your lover arrives)
-safety lock out (so as not to inadvertently burn
yourselves up there)
-timers (measuring your window of opportunity)
-last temp recall (when your spouse arrives)
as well as integrated controls for Caldera's own Prism downdraft from the
cooktop. Uses the "Microcyling" ™ system for smooth steady
temperature control instead of long cycling of HOT and COLD which is the norm on
most electric burners and some relationships. Frigidaire is also trying to
tackle this problem.

2000 Kitchen & Bath Show Introductions
Caldera is a little outfit out of Vermont that does design work for the major
brands but is now making a concerted push to open its own one step dealer
network. Caldera is interested in working with other manufacturers with its new
technologies shown at KBIS, as well as launching its own line.
Gas Cooktop With Electronic Touch Controls
Caldera showed a most excellent gas on ceramic glass cooktop with electronic
touch controls and a cycling simmer system. Absolutely Wow. Revolutionary. Seems
to be the first touch control system for a gas cooktop. Mr. Al Shute, says that
there are 2 patents and 10 patents pending protecting the controls, and cycling
simmer feature. Avail 1st Q, 2001.
Ceran Electric Cooktop With Fine Detail Touch
