2004 Kitchen & Bath Show Introductions
Windcrest continues its march to broaden its footprint in cooktops.

Inductive Reasoning
The US induction market heats up with the Windcrest entry of these 36" 5 burner and 30" 4 burner induction cooktops.  Windcrest claims that their induction units are higher power than any other induction unit available.  The Windcrest unit is based upon Brandt technology from Europe. 3600W, (2) 2200W, (2) 2800W.  As of December 2004, 7 months after the show, these units have yet to make an appearance.

Gas Cooktops for Tiny Pots
Windcrest launched new 36" and 30" gas cooktop each with 4 sealed burners and 1 open burner, and claims that this is the only 5 burner 30" cooktop in the industry.  This may be true, though Jennair and DCS each offer a 30" range with 5 burners.  Both cooktops feature electronic ignition and re-ignition, very heavy looking full-surface cast-iron interlocking grates the top of which are only 3/4" above the counter surface.  The 36" unit, at a claimed 69,500 BTU may be the highest output 36" gas cooktop available.
The 30" cooktop burners feature two 9K BTU, one 15K BTU and one 12K BTU all of which are sealed, and one  18.5K BTU which is open.
The 36" cooktop exchanges a 9K for a 15K, but is otherwise identical.

Drop-in Pro Performance Cooktops
Windcrest launched a very powerful looking (5) burner 36" stainless steel drop-in cooktop featuring (1) 18.5K BTU burner in the center, (2) 15K BTU burners, (1) 12K BTU burner, (1) 9K BTU burner and all topped with cast iron full surface grates.  The unit also features single point ignition so only 1 burner sparks at a time when igniting.  This is a very solid looking product and much more likely to find a large audience in comparison to the 2001 cooktop launch.

Dual Fuel Pro-Style Ceran Glass Stainless Framed Cooktop
Available in 5 burner 36" with 1 electric simmer area, or 6 burner 48" with 1 electric simmer burner. Windcrest continues to duck and weave and find demand where others fear to tread. This new androgynous cooktop straddles the line of the cooktop equivalent of sexual identity.

Gas On Ceran Glass Pro-Style Cooktop
WindCrest launched a gas version of their ceran electric pro-style cooktop. We didn't really like the oval grate layout on glass within a stainless pro frame, but they're a small company and have to be different. Some people might just love it. We wish them luck with this product and any future improvements.
