Appliance Sales: The World's Oldest Profession

As we reported May 2008, bigger brains did not begat cooking, delicate sauces, and deep fried ice cream, in fact quite the opposite.  It was the cooking of food which allowed our species to evolve, increasing the nutrition which could be harvested from a given amount food, further allowing our brains to enlarge and our digestive system to shrink.  Cooking required the storage of food, the planning of meals, and the creation of gender roles we live with today.  More calories in less time.  More planning and cooperation, since it was no longer every ape for him or herself.
iPods, pedicures, Muzak, 787's, lyposuction, every advancement of our species really, was the direct result of our profession's ancestors who started our industry just 1.9 million years ago.  Our hats off to them.

Perhaps a good gift for your big brained friends would be the book, "Catching Fire" by Richard Wrangham.

"So fat Democrats evolved from thin Republicans(?)"

Answer:  Hmmm.  Without touching the many underlying questions with a 10' pole, I will answer the obvious one:
No.  The Democratic party was formed first in 1790 (more or less), and the Republican party in 1854.

Reflection

Somewhere along the way our brains may have gotten bigger but we sometimes have less usage. Our digestive tract has gotten bigger too I think. Some of our cooking is done the same way as our ancestors. Spark the fuel and it explodes and we heat our dead meat.
