Capital President Richard Kalsi Resigns
Capital Cooking's flamboyant president Richard Kalsi will resign from his position to be replaced by his father Surjit Kalsi effective October 10.
Richard Kalsi's Announcement of his Resignation:
I am pleased to inform you that effective October 10th, I am resigning
from Capital, the company I helped found and carried on my back and
shoulders for the past 7-1/2 years. I wish I could say it was due to the
current economic situation, but it's not. I have truly enjoyed working
with everyone in this industry, created some exciting products like the
Performance BBQ's and Precision Ranges, made some great friends, met some
wonderfully talented people, and I will cherish these memories and great
moments for a lifetime.
The reasons for my departure relate to philosophical differences in terms
of the direction to lead the company. Unfortunately my creative vision is
not shared by others in my company. I have always placed people above
profits, always believed in marketing through exceptional imagery, believed
in innovation and research and development to bring the best products to
the market to secure long term growth. This is my father's philosophy as
well. I have always created visionary products, with a robustness of
features and styles that have successfully "wowed" consumers, believing in
my heart and mind that the two values of innovation and marketing are what
differentiates companies from one another, but without a successful
manufacturing team, it makes it a little difficult to execute that vision. Unfortunately
there are some in my camp who do not share this belief. So,
I have no choice but to quietly, take my bow, and let others take Capital to
its logical conclusion. My father will stay on as Chairman and CEO. A new president
has not been named.
All My Best To You and your team and to the many fine people in your
organization.
Sincerely,
Rich Kalsi
Ex-President/CEO of Capital

I had a "chance meeting" with Rich @ K-BIZ and found him to be engaging, enthusiastic, and receptive to my comments and criticisms of the Capital line (which we minor) ... he was the consummate professional and my only criticism would have been that he could have dressed a little better, considering who he was ... I'm not a fan of stiff shirts and suits ... I prefer sports coats and sport shirts but he was a bit "over the top" in his unbuttoned shirt sleeves and day-old stubble beard ...... but then I'm looking @ substance but the "look" can be distracting ... Cheers & Ciao !!!Bermuda Bob

You need to speak to some of the folks who had to work with him at DCS. Like I said , Surgit taking over at Capital is good for the industry as a whole. The only ones to disagree will be those jealous of Surgit's accomplishments. As for the dress , that's in out West and it is good for the soul, brother.

Surgit Kalsi taking the reigns at Capital is good for the high end business. I had the distinct privilege to know Surgit and I can tell you that he is the MVP of the high end business. Why? Because he is skilled enough to understand the customer and understood every phase of his operation at DCS. Imagine starting a business from scratch and building it to $92 miilion annually. Others have attempted to polish a false image of themselves. With Surgit...what you see is what you get. A skilled man who is successful and respects people more than others want to think. Arrogant ? He probably has earned that right more than anyone.Understands the customer ? Better than anyone I have known. Good luck Surgit.
