Haitian Relief

However bad we believe it to be, there are events which shake us from our self-centered miopia and reset our perspective. An event of this kind has just occured. Give to the charity of your choice to assist in Haitian Relief.

Unfortunately, there are a plethora of "do-gooders" in time and events like this and one way I have always used to evaluate them is to see what percentage of the donated funds actually GET to the victims ... to that end, I believe that no charity should be filtering off funds for administrative costs and should have pre-negotiated agreements with suppliers for not only products but performance ... the world's best charity @ this is the RED CROSS !!! Therefore they get my vote and support ...
So many times people donate money in all sorts of ways without knowing how it getting to the victims, or thru who ... a donation to the RED CROSS cuts out the middle-man and get the job done in the most efficient and professional way possible !!!
FYI, the RED CROSS is the only worldwide organization (with the exception possibly of "Doctor's Without Borders") who are universally recognized ...

Haitian Relief
Thanks Advisor. I would encourage all to give something. Even if you think a small donation would have no impact. The Average yearly income in Haiti is less than $400 a year. Even if all that you have to give is $30 or less, it is meaningful. Also, if you do not regularly work with a charitable organization, take a few extra moments and research the one you are about to give to. Some organizations are much more efficient than others and some are inefficient to the point of corruption.
