RECALL: AA Apology to Electrolux
In the course of learning of a recall of 900 Electrolux ICON and Kenmore Pro 30" Gas Ranges, we learned that we have been at least partially in error. The 900 units have a slight carbon monoxide problem, but aren't folks always over-reacting over a wee bit of carbon. Heck, they'll be banning pencils any day now! Anyway, back to our story.
Seems that the Electrolux 30" Pro All Gas units are NOT made by NXR of China as we had indicated in an earlier AA story, says the CPSC Recall. This was a surprise to us and we apologize to Electrolux for our error. Seems Electrolux builds 'em their own damn selves in Canada. Except for this minor carbon kerfuffle, we congratulate them for actually making stuff.
What else did we learn? Kenmore Pro is made by Electrolux? Really?
How about this? They only made 900 30" Pro ranges for both ICON and Kenmore between August 2008 and October 2009, all of 15 months. Of course perhaps this is a secondary model, and they made 10,000 of some other more popular 30" All Gas Pro model, or perhaps they just started production and ramped up very very slowly. We hope so, since 900 units is such a very very low number, even in a depression, considering its availability through ICON dealers AND every Sears outlet in North America.
Anything more? How about this......if 900 units is an actual clean sales number, resulting from 15 months of aggressive selling, won't Jennair be surprised when they start trying to sell at Sears?
You can learn so much from a recall.
